The aircraft, Embraer E-190 B-3130 (cn 223), belonged to Henan Airlines (former Kunpeng Airlines) and crashed at Yichun (ZYYC). Below is a pic of the aircraft involved in the colors of Kunpeng Airlines...

...if I am correct here...this is the first accident involving an E-190 resulting in fatalities and a total loss of the airframe...

You are correct. It's the first involving any EJet aircraft. Weather looked bad at the airport, so I'm hoping thisi s attributed to some sort of pilot error (not to take away anything about loss of life). I'm just hoping this isn't attributable to any type of defect or issue with the aircraft. Those EJets are pretty sweet.

I remember my first ride in an E-145...WOW! Felt like I was on a rocket ship!  :-o  8-)

The E-190 is a slick aircraft as well...

I have to agree with the E145s. Though in the cabin, they reminded me of a smaller sardine-canned MD80. Though the engines and flaps/slats were quieter (as compared to those being deployed/retracted on a B737/A320) on the one I was on (BTA ERJ145-LR). Because they made it to our destination way ahead of schedule, and I had asked the pilot some questions, they let me run through their shutdown checklist, and I shut down the plane. I don't have a bad thing to say about those jets, let alone BTA.

But I still think the E170s/E175s are freakin' sweet.

Although I have never been to China, after reading the news reports they say it's an unsave airport during nights. Somewhat in the middle of a forrest and poor night landing capabilities, what to me includes low vision bad weather landings !

Just as we are talking about the E145... :-(

"A Passaredo Embraer ERJ-145, registration PR-PSJ performing flight P3-2231 from Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP to Vitoria da Conquista,BA (Brazil) with 24 passengers and 3 crew, touched down short of runway 15 while landing in Vitoria da Conquista causing the entire landing gear to be ripped off the aircraft, that skidded on its belly onto the runway and veered off the runway again before coming to a stop at around 14:40L (17:40Z). The right hand engine caught fire that was quickly extinguished by airport fire fighters. Two passengers received minor injuries and were taken to a hospital, the other occupants remained uninjured. The airplane received substantial damage."
