I use to work at Everett Boeing as well. I started out there doing low speed areo engineering work for the 47 and 67 (flaps, slats and some noise abaitment stuff). I then went and worked on the 777 project until it got rolled out. That is about the time I left Boeing.

That isn't a 182, its my girlfriend. :-) Actually, its a rented 172/G.

my dad worked on the enviornmental controls on the 767, 747-400, and i believe the 777 also. They he got laid off and went to Boeing vertol in Philly where we are now and got laid off again so now he has his own bussiness. I loved arlington though and my first flight was actually at boeing field. sorry about the 172 messup though. I confuss them form time to time. by the way are you still in the aeronuatical engireering field?

I think JANET is the secret airline that transports people that work on Area 51. There is a show about on TLC I think and they sho wit every once and a while. Janet stands for Just Another None Existent Terminal. Its a wierd thing and they Operate Boeing 737-100s and 200s. There red and white without a tail number. I think you can get on the frequencie somehow. And they take of from Las Vegas. I hoped that helped you abit and I'll try to answer any more questions, and you cant track JANET flights.

Most of the flight tracking sites I have played with have a delay built in for security reasons. :-( I know of one that was 20 minutes.

--greg.

I'm concerned with a "reverse" delay of what you stated.  The problem wasn't that the plane landed and it still showed "in the air" - it was the other way around!  The site reported that it landed when it was still flying (not yet on final approach).

SEAN - where can you get more information about this feed data?  :)

REVERSE DELAY
« Reply #33 on: December 18, 2005, 11:33:52 PM »
I doesn’t seem possible to have a prediction (reverse delay) of an actual arrival. What you might have experienced was an aircraft that canceled it's IFR clearance and continued to the airport VFR-(1200 transponder code).  FlightAware is geared for tracking IFR flights. Its software may interpret IFR cancellations as an arrival. You don't see VFR flights or a VFR portion of a IFR flight logged into history. VFR flights show on the map in most cases when the aircraft is using flight following. If the aircraft is not using ATC services it will not show up.   My experience is about a 6 - 15 minute delay on actual flight status.  Other than the security delay I think the information is extremely accurate, altitudes, speeds seem to be dead on.  Beware of errors from transponders on tracked aircraft could show up and give false information.

Janet aircraft

I'm new to the forum and don't really understand where this thread will show up, but hopefully it will be with the other comments about Janet aircraft.

First of all, Janet's have tail numbers. I've photographed them from the Island Tower at the Tropicana Hotel.

Janet aircraft are civilian, and thus have N-numbers, as listed on the link above. If you go to
http://www.lazygranch.com/janet_audio.htm
you can hear scanner audio of these planes. Some of this audio is from Janets on the ground at Groom Lake, not all that easy since the base is in a valley. I go to a nearby hill that doesn't quite have line of sight but is about as good as can be done just by driving. Then I use antennas cut just for the tower (military and civilian frequencies).

I haven't photographed them from the ground in quite some time. However,  I would think photographing the Janets and their terminal from the long term parking garage would not get the TSA on your case.

The Tropicana is probably going to be sold in the next few months. A few people I know into Area 51 have done their pilgrimage to photograph the terminal from the Trop. You ask for a room in the Island Tower, facing the airport, as high as possible. Nobody even bats an eyelash at the reservation desk as this request has been done a few time before. Janets start to fly damn early. If you are a Vegas party animal, you will probably sleep through all the Janet activity.

Hello all,

This site is just great for filling in all of the details on any commercial or IFR flight arriving or departing any airport. You can also see the aircraft's recent flight log and there are many different ways to sort your searches.

Enjoy!

http://flightaware.com/

Most of the flights are not displayed correctly!
http://flightview.com is better!
i recommed it!
the only thing i like at Flight Aware you can see the flightplan
Thanks
