Title: Good CTAF feed for student pilot?
Post by: geoffeg on October 22, 2012, 12:04:51 PM
I've just started taking lessons at St. Charles County Smartt Airport (Missouri), a smaller untowered airport. I've listened to larger airport towers like JFK, SFO and LAX for a while now but I want to become more familiar with CTAF-style radio communications. Theres a lot of CTAF feeds on liveatc but I'm not sure which one would be "best" to start with. Which feed should I start with? The busier the feed is the better, I imagine.

KHDC in Hammond, LA has a good amount of traffic. There are two flight schools and an Army National Guard helicopter squadron on the field, plus lots military and business jets use it for refueling stops.
The scanner also scans two New Orleans International approach frequencies, but the local CTAF has priority.
Good luck.
