Couldn't agree with you more. This was the first thing I thought when I heard about the moller flying car.

It seems that they want this or are thinking of an airborne public transportation system, and when I see the technology that is being introduced to aid this, autoflight-based or not, I dont know if I feel this is such a good idea...

When I think about my fellow Northern California "death wish" drivers, I most certainly want to make sure that the local department of motor vehicles [yikes!] is the entity the gets the job of "Testing & Certification" for the flying car.

Tailgating, unsafe lane changes, unsafe speeds, and now the infamous 'making of a right turn from a red light or stop signing into flowing perpendicular traffic!' - are all the kinds of behaviors that should tell anyone that indeed, everyone is not yet ready for this.

It is my sincere feeling that approximately 70% or more, of the licensed drivers on the road out where I live, have no business behind the wheel of a 3,300 lbs car, let alone, one that can depart the earth in flight.

My father-in-law is one of the worst drivers on the planet... nice man, horrible driver.... i simply refuse to get in a car he is driving. So, I just think about him and drivers like him in an airplane, and i run for cover. If this does become the norm, I hope that autopilot and autoroute technology follow suit, FAST!!!!

hahahaha God save us!!!
