Title: Firefox Crashes
Post by: BravoLima on December 20, 2009, 12:14:00 AM
I am getting browser crashes when listening to a feed using the flash player and firefox current version.  is this a known bug, or is there something I'm doing wrong?

Same here. Doesn't seem to be an issue with the Java player though, so if you don't want to use WMP or iTunes Java seems to be the way forward!

its been happening to me a few times on Windows Media Player when I'm listening to the airports broadcast. Hopefully they'll come out with a fix

Appears to be a bug or memory leak in the Flash Player - may take a while to fix.  But I have seen this before, in isolated cases.  Hard to reproduce reliably.

hahaha!  Mine reproduces it every single time!

What version of Firefox?  What operating system?

As you can imagine, there are a fair number of variables involved in tracking down a bug like this.   :-)

Thanks Bruce...typically I recommend people avoid IE except when necessary.  Except now!  :-)

Also, what version of Flash Player? 9.x?  10.x?  I assume you are on 10.x.something.

Go to any web page with a Flash Player (YouTube, etc.) then right-click on the player and select "About..." - that will display a page with the version number.

Ok.  it is flash player # 10.0.32.18 but it appears that it needs updating....

Try the update obviously, but not sure it will help.  This is apparently a frequent issue on Firefox.

Clear your browser cache, quit Firefox, relaunch and try again.  I upgraded the SWF.

I can reliably reproduce the crash here...whether it is due to the same root problem as yours I am not sure.  But will do more digging.

I use winamp v5.56 and have had no problems, though this limits me to listening to one feed at a time.

Firefox 3.5.6 with Windows XP sp3 will stay connected for awhile, but will crash eventually.

I'm the same - Firefox 3.5.6, Windows 7 Ultimate &  Flash version 10.0.32.18. Reproduces it reliably for me too  :-D

Not an issue though, I just use Java!

Sorry for OT, but you can listen to multiple feeds with Winamp.  Options->Preferences->General Preferences and then check "Allow multiple instances"

Well, I updated my flash player to the current version and now it seems to be stable.  No crashes so far.  I will do some more listening....
