Just a recommendation that instead of pasting the entire article and pictures here you may want to post a link to it.  Otherwise there is a possibility that the copyright owners of this article and pictures may go after LiveATC.

You don't even site where you pulled the article, nor have given credit to the article's author and the photographer.

Unless this was adjusted after, the article is from CNN (CNN) look after San Diego, California, and the credit for the photos are in the bottom left hand corner of the picture, fyi. But your right it's easier and safer from a legal standpoint to just post the link.

Fair enough - You must have a better monitor than I have.  I cannot read the lower left corner.

Done...

A new redesigned Hornet? I think a lot of them are starting to age. Be nice to see a new one

Nice that our 2 illustrious (SNICKER) state represetatives are calling for a "SWIFT and THOUROUGH" invesigatioin into the crash.  Like they think the MARINES are just going to do a half assed job and say everything is fine.

I am reserving any speculation until at least a preliminary report is given into the cause of the dual engine failure, and specifics into the handling and routing of the damaged aircraft back to Mirimar.

I do have one burning question,  the JSF which will eventually replace the Hornets and Harrier jets I believe only have a single engine.  Something the NAVY had to compromise with the AIR FORCE on.  In light of the recent crash how does the NAVY feel about this?

The jet was carrier launched and lost one engine shortly after takeoff.  If the jet is close to shore, I believe they prefer to go to land rather they try to attempt a single engine recovery onto the carrier.  When he got to Miramar the second engine failed.
