Post by: knish1231 on May 30, 2006, 04:52:18 PM
i have a simple questions.  i live in lyndhurst nj and have my own office in linden, nj.  can anyone tell me what are my chances of getting all of the atc communications from ewr if i were to get an outside antena?  right now i have a handheld scanner and i can pick up the airplanes.

Thanks,
Pete

Lyndhurst doesn't look like it's in that bad of a position to recieve all atleast to tower. I know EWR has some bad transmitter locations in the sense that even the ATC advertises "All aircraft use upper ATC antennas". So just see if you can get the antenna as high up as possible.

My son and I are in the process of bringing up an EWR feed from Springfield, NJ.  Antenna and radio are in place and reception is great.

We put alot of effort into an attempt at a feed from West Orange, NJ - but found that the terrain was too much of an issue.  Moving to Springfield we got a great signal.

The final cutover will, of course, be up to Dave and Sean - but I think we have a good chance of being up live next week!!!
