I dont understand why all these reports are coming out now. The rates havent just spiked in the past week or so.... Maybe the media is just over exaggerating all these runway incursions?

There is this underlying current of aviation and airline delays in the media, so these stories just go hand in hand with everything else. Unfortunately, its a "hot topic", and the media often exaggerates and gets is wrong.

Also because the air traffic controller shortage is getting increased media attention lately.
