Heard an emergency on ZNY MXE 25 sector, 88JT i think he said he had to shut down his #3 engine. Then he said "6 souls aboard, 500 gallons worth of fuel" Then he got handed off to another sector in which I pick up a controller on that sector also the PTW 92 sector, when the pilot checked in. The controller wasted no time saying "88JT, I understand you have declared an emergency" The pilot replied saying "yes", the controller gave him a descent to 14 and direct Elmira, thats right when I stopped listening.

Happened Friday at about 4pm EST

Ed's feed isn't up yet, but should be coming in the future  :D, I was listening to it as well, as I was talking to Ed on a voice program on the computer at the time.

Interesting stuff...

Heh, working as a MOC controller, I could post about 50 IFE's a day from Kadena alone :)

No, as a matter of fact im a student pilot as well, but it's extremely rare that they have an IFE.  It's mostly the F-15s or P-3's out here that have the IFE's

Yeah, just listen to the Okinawa feed and you are almost guaranteed to hear at least one or two emergencies during the day.  It is pretty common around here.  Most of them are the P-3's.

Well what do you know.  We had an IFE yesterday.  Download the 26 APR 05 0230-0300 Okinawa archive.  Starting at about 15 minutes in, you will hear the IFE, Cheeta04 a flight of F-15s.

BTW, the departure controller is me....

Jammed gun.  We had to stop departures off Naha since the F-15 would be crossing paths with Naha departures.  Didn't want an unsafe gun pointing at airliners.

Just the other night (maybe tuesday?) i think it was around 2 or 3 AM we got a call that a KC-10 had a Ground Emergency for hot brakes.  If I remember right they ended up having 2-4 flat tires with 74 angry souls on board :).  Totally unexpected on our end, to hear the crash phone go off at that time of night tends to wake you up :)

A bit off topic for this thread, but since we're talking about Okinawa, If any of  ya'll are interested, listen to the Okinawa Feed from Saturday Night(21:00 - 23:00 Eastern) (Sunday morning 10:00 - 12:00 Japan time) (01:00 - 03:00 Zulu/GMT) I will be flying around Okinawa, callsign Cessna 5167 Foxtrot.  The weather isn't looking so good tomorrow so I'll make a post here if I cancel, that way you're not listening for nothin :)

Edit: duh, i guess i should tell you guys what day
