« on: December 25, 2004, 02:49:31 AM »
hey, i love the eham feed(next best thing to EBBR). However, this is the only feedin which it will disconnect it's self after 1.5hours of listening.

Anyone know why this particular feed does this??

thanks :-)

Hi, good evening everyone,

The EHAM feed has to be re-started every five to six hours manually, as the laptop that is providing the feed,
is running out of resources after a few hours. I don't know why this happens, as there is no other software
running that is causing this to happen. The laptop runs under WIN XP, and it only happens with Stream Transcoder.
If anyone can offer some tips or hints to resolve this issue, please let me know. Thank you.

Back to the original question. When listening to the stream myself, I don't get disconnected every 1.5 hours,
but maybe you just get disconnected during one of those re-starts described above ?? Are there any other
listeners that experience 1.5 hour disconnects ??

I have established a small website that indicates the status of the feed, including the time of the latest re-start.
When I am at home the stream will be re-started within 5-7 hours from that time, when I am at work it
can take a few hours more ..... This is the URL: http://www.dutchmil.nl/liveatc

Hopefully this will answer your question, best wishes from the Netherlands.

René.

I can try and help you out.  Can you tell me more about the problem you are having?
How can you tell that your machine is "running out of resources"?
What do you see that tells you this (is it an error message?)?
Does it say what "resources" you are running out of?
How do you know that it is Stream Transcoder that is causing the problem?

Thanks!

well, all I know is that my connection will just stop. I have a feeling it is at my providers end. It's not a big deal. no need to worry.. it plays for that time and I have it going while I sleep so after sometime of sleeping it just stops. kinda convient

Hi, thanks for your offer to help. Here are the answers to your questions:

>How can you tell that your machine is "running out of resources"?

When running the taskmanager, I can see the CPU use go from 5% at the start of streaming to 100% after 5-6 hours of streaming.

>What do you see that tells you this (is it an error message?)?

See above, visual indication.

>Does it say what "resources" you are running out of?

CPU use reaches 100% level and that starts to drop the speech on the feed.

>How do you know that it is Stream Transcoder that is causing the problem?

There is no other software running in the background, just Stream Transcoder. Furthermore,
it is the only program on the laptop that causes the CPU use go to 100%.

Cheers,

René.
