Dreamliner 787 is a no-go
« on: November 26, 2010, 03:19:36 PM »
According to Qatar Airways, Akbar Al-Baker the Dreamliner programme is a no-go, due to delays. He states it's a complete failure of this project and switches to Airbus with their new NEO engines in the near future.

I would go for the Sky-interior, which is a perfect alternative, though....

Any thoughts on this?

Sure looks that way...Qatar Airways may cancel its entire order, which includes 60 787s and 24 777s favoring the  A340-600...

"Some harsh words for Boeing came out of Qatar Airways on Wednesday, as news reports emerged that the airline could become an exclusive Airbus customer."

Well I found this article from november 25th 2010 :

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-11-25/qatar-says-bombardier-issues-unresolved-considering-airbus-alternative.html

So he said it again.....

Or it could be that they are rehashing the same quotes from before (read: slow news day). And now since more outlets are running with it, we'll never know if he did say it again, or if it was from the original story. The one thing that is true though, is that because of the grounding of the B787 and delays incurring from that, what Al-Baker said still may ring true.

My guess: New B787 grounding lead to finding some quote by someone with leverage against the project, lead to running the same quote again, lead to multiple outlets running the same story.

It's really not looking good, by the time the dreamliner goes into production it is already outdated this way... Another cancellation today...
