Wow, that was before my time but I think I know the guy you're talking about. He got fired in the PATCO strike then rehired at YNG in '98. If it's the same guy I'm thinking of, he's a Sup at ERI now and is definitely one of the most exciting controllers I've ever heard. His name isn't Frank though, it's Dan...and he does say "Adios" alot.
Ok, I've got the straight story--The original "adios" guy at PIT was indeed named Frank. Dan, who worked there at the same time, picked it up from him. (Source: Ed from YNG, who's also ex-PATCO, from PIT at that time, and who works with my wife...)
