Northrop Grumman also has its own brand of memorial planned for June 15. Perhaps most remembered for its role in the 1986 film “Top Gun,” the US Navy is retiring the F-14 Tomcat this year. To commemorate the legacy of 32 years in use, Northrop Grumman has planned a Long Island Victory Lap. At approximately 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, two planes will fly over Grumman Memorial Park in Calverton, where they were designed, and Northrop Grumman’s Bethpage Facility, where they were built. Their final destination will be Republic Airport in Farmingdale, touching down at 9:30 a.m. The two planes will be on display at the American Airpower Museum all day, amidst a welcoming ceremony. The museum requests a donation to attend.
