Constant disconnecting (Feed software)
« on: September 05, 2006, 01:54:20 PM »
Not sure why, but my feed is disconnecting repeatedly when trying to stream. (EISN/EIKN/EGGX) I've change the delay for reconnect down to 1 second to try and improve it but I'd like to find the source of the problem. The stream is the only thing that is affected and VATSIM/TeamSpeak etc works fine. (So other voice programs dont have a problem)

Any ideas?

I just thought of something while using my server that I have setup on my desktop, other people cannot view my files yet I can via my IP. So perhaps its the local network firewall thats causing the problem? Could someone confirm this?

Can you elaborate a bit on what exactly is happening?  Do you mean that it always happens that every time you connect you are instantly disconnected?  Or that you are disconnected every once in a while, a few times a day?

Its instant for most of the time. Every now and again it might stay up for a few mins but then it will connect and disconnect straight away.  :-(

Not nearly enough data here.  Describe your network setup (wired, wireless, type of Internet connection, as a start).

Ok I am on a wireless network, but it is connected via a mesh box through LAN to my desktop. My Meshbox is its own host and thats how I get on the network. My signal is bounced from one box to another then sent a good 55miles to get into the main broadband network.

Thats my understanding of the setup, I really dont know a lot beyond the above! I should be talking to the No.2 in the network tonight and I'll see what they say about it.

Does this represent a change?  That is, the network problems you have been having...have you always had the problem, or is it new?  If it's new, what has changed?

We have had considerable problems keeping streams running over home-based WiFi networks.  Your setup sounds more like a metropolitan area network.  I am not sure if we're running into MTU problems on the wireless network(s) or if the issues are latency oriented.  It's a little hard to do remote experiments from here.  Feeders switching from WiFi at their house to a wired network connection always fixes the problem.

But it seems your situation is a little more complicated since you can't readily switch to an all-wired connection.

Hmmmmm.

Well I'll have a word with my ISP and see what they say.
