What cable are you all using that has PL-259 connectors. RG6? RG8? Quad shield? I will have to run  a new coax from my roof to the radio, total length about 75 feet. Is there a place online where I can get some good cable. Found some on Ebay, but it has a clear jacket. Not sure if that is good or if it matters, but I have always used black. Anyway, if any of you have a good source for coax, please PM me.

Thought about Radio Shack, but I think they only have 50 or 100 foot lengths, I'm looking for 75.

I've used RG58/U before, and it's just fair.  I use RG8/U and it works well, very thick and tough to manuever inside walls though.

I like RG8/U, and the best out there is probably some good Belden 9913.  From my understanding, it is some fine coax.

Yeah that's what I have now is RG8, except it's pretty old and barely long enough at 50 feet. I'm wondering if someplace out there will custom cut a piece and put the connectors on for me.

They're not cheap, but try:

It's almost always cheaper to buy your own cable and connectors, and to learn how to solder or crimp the connectors.  Plus you learn another skill.  :-)

Thanks Dave. I might try making my own. I just remember trying it once before but those connectors just would not crimp on very well.

Belden RG8X Mini here. I'm gonna need something a little thicker later on when I put a new extension on my mast.
