The radar outage at Boston continues...they're running off the Center (ZBW) radar and radar separation has been increased from 3 miles to 5 miles.

Anyone know what Radar Automation system they run at BOS TRACon?
-
Dave, it was built in 2001, right? I don't know when this was introduced but I would say ASR-11 since it is a fairly new facility. ASR-11 with STARS. Though I'm sure they told you it was ASR-9 when you visited, right Dave?

No, the FAA (in its automated status messages) is calling it ASR-9 for some reason, even though the news keeps referring to approach radar. Regardless, the radar is out. :-)

Now the messages just say radar:

I have heard that other facilities with STARS have also had issues with "false targets"...
