Title: BOS holding inbounds for 45+ minutes
Post by: Jason on February 14, 2007, 12:33:33 PM
Just tuned into the Boston Approach Final Vector feed...BOS is closed for "at least" 45 minutes because of "nil breaking action reported by a Continental 737 on runway 4R."  Since the RVR is below minimums for the other runways, the final controller is holding most inbounds over NABBO intersection on the 4R localizer, 10 mile legs.

Pretty nasty out there, but it makes for some interesting operations!

Not just for BOS, but for everywhere else in the US, too!

This will absolutely KILL flow control, especially the transcon flights from the west coast to the east. SEA, LAS, PHX, DFW will have serious delays.. This should make for some killer ops no matter what US feed you plug into!

Definitely.

Update: It'll be another 40 minutes 'till they re-open the airport as of the last 5 minutes.
