Search suspended for missing SoCal pilot
« on: March 07, 2009, 08:14:21 PM »
I hadn't heard anything about this until it was on my homepage...truly tragic.

Apparently, he was alone in a rented Cessna 172, and a civillian boat saw him crash into the water.

Yeah, I knew one of these guys.  Was one of our F/Os.  Was out of training for a week before getting furloughed.

Who was one of your F/Os? The pilot or people on the boat who saw it go down?

Story says the pilot was 71...kinda old to be a newly traind F/O... :?

Oh dear, then we're not talking about the same lost socal plane.  Our union sent out an email to everyone stating that one of our furloughed pilots was involved in an airplane incident off the coast of Eureka, California.  The plane and the 2 on board have not been found.

Agreed. I don't think they found the airplane. Story says just some debries and an oil slick. No Mayday from the pilot either. It may be some time before anyone knows what happened here, if ever.  :-(
