Air show at KROC July 16-17 with the Blue Angels
« on: July 14, 2011, 12:28:16 PM »
KROC (Rochester NY) is hosting an air show this weekend with the Blue Angels, among other attractions.  Live ATC hosts the tower and approach/departure feeds on a single channel.  During the show (as well as the practice ops on Thursday and Friday), the field is closed, so the tower feed goes dead and the approach control has nothing to do except warn GA flights to stay away.  Is there any way to add additional frequencies for the air show?  I don't know what that would be; I assume the Angels as well as other pilots in the show use some common frequency to coordinate their activities.

By the way, the KRCO feed is the best one I have listened to on LiveATC.  Granted, I live here, but I listen to other airports sometimes for fun, and when I travel, and I often find the signal to noise ratio is terrible, or the traffic is split up on so many different feeds that I can't follow a flight.  ROC is not too busy, so the tower and departure channels don't overlap too much, and the signal is almost always crystal clear.  Kudos to the ROC feed maintainer!

(But can you add anything extra for the air show?   :-D )
