Atlantic HF Feed

First of all, thanks Dave for putting that feed up! I loved to stay up nights, to hear aircraft on shortwave, because my equipment is not the best, and I am only able to listen at night clearly... Now i can listen all the day long to HF :D
My question.. when will the feed up again? :D

It will be back intermittently this week. I've been away and I run the feed from my home.

Hi BravoLima!
The static is normal! This is shortwave and it is only used outside VHF-Coverage (over the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian Ocean and some parts of Africa and Asia)
The static make it to something special.. It's sometimes very hard to unterstand the atc or pilots and the aircrafts are using the SELCAL-System, so they do not need to monitor it all the time, because its very loud to have the receiver open for many hours in the cockpit.. Sp the only monitor the freq. when the controller calls the aircraft via SELCAL.
The best time to hear traffic on the US Eastcoast would be from 6PM to about 3am because then all the traffic back to europe is flying.. Or 6AM to noon because then the westbound flights are in the air..
However you can understand more during the night hours...

Having flown numerous airlines over the ocean and hearing the 'channel.9' on my favorite,UAL. I'm very excited to finally hear this for free and live online!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH TO WHOEVER TOOK THE TIME TO BROADCAST THIS!!!!
I can tell ya now. I'll constantly have this going. Aircraft navigating over the oceans is something that just doesn't get boring... sure beats hearing "Cleared to land" 9,000x :P :lol: :o
