I assume that you mean Tower as we say here in the States when mentioning aerodrome control.

And I shall assume "Area Radar" means "ARTCC" or "Center" for the US.

Yep

Aerodrome - Tower

Area - Centre ( lol different english spelling aswell )

Jus another question....Dallas Fort Worth.....3 control towers?? Anyone know which ones responsible for what?? coordination must be a nightmare

Amsterdam Schiphol has two towers; the west tower does the west part of the Schiphol CTR (36L, 18R and VFR traffic west of 18/36C), the central tower does all other runways, and "east" VFR traffic. The towers usually kick GA to the appropriate tower at the first call.

I play ATC sim 2 and it is a small taste of how tough it is. I say radar approach is tough as things can get out of hand quickly, if it is busy, I slow them down to 180 and sort them out then adjust speed as needed.

Biggest and most challenging thing missins on this list (and that most people not exposed to ATC don't realize) is GROUND control... at a place like JFK or CYYZ, this is probably the most challenging of positions...
