Ash cloud at KSEA

Hearing PIREPs of an ash cloud with tops reaching 13,000ft.

I guess it must be Mt Saint Helens.

Kind of cool, not something you hear about on ATC all the time.

Interesting few hours here on KSEA.

Definitely not Mt. St. Helens. She's closer to Vancouver/PDX, not SEA. Winds at PDX are 120/12, which would push any ash from the volcano southeast.. Something else is going on up at SEA, as in the past 3 hours, they've only been in VMC once. otherwise, it's IFR in and out of that area.

Any other volcanoes up near there?

They are saying near Mount Saint Helens, near the BattleGround VOR.
Ash cloud drifting NE with tops near 13,000ft.

Turns out it is stream eruption caused by a rock fall. I still would not like
to fly through it.

Interesting. BTG is definitely near PDX, as the bulk of their departures depend on that VOR being operational. Both fields lie in the sector.. I wonder if there's been any major pireps outside of the emergency you posted being reported...
