Antenna for maycom AR-108
« on: July 26, 2006, 01:42:44 AM »
I just recently purchase a maycom AR-108 handheld airband scanner. I live within 5 miles off KLAF (graduating in august with a BS in ChE) and working towards my PPL. I get a lot of frequencies but most of them appear to be only controllers talking. I wanted to know if there was an antenna that i could get that could enhance my reception.
Let me know.
Any help is greatly apprecited.
Sid

I assume you mean you can only hear pilots talking?  If so, search the forum for j-pole, you can build one yourself.

Thanks for link. I was also wondering if the Maycom receiver that they sell here in the US, does it come with a BNC connector for the antenna or a SMA connector.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I second the j-pole comment.  I had a similar situation until I spent $15 building a j-pole.

It made a HUGE difference.
