Just saw this animation posted in the rec.aviation.piloting newsgroup and thought those here who do not read that group might appreciate it.

Check out this WMV animation of Fed-Ex arrivals into Memphis, TN, while a strong line of thunderstorms approach from the northeast:

Talk about cutting it close!  :)

haha "Where living on the edge".

Love how as the bad squall moves over KMEM, you suddenly see a whole bunch of the aircraft break off the sequence, some doing circles, a few diverting, mostly to Little Rock, and one, looking like it's headed for LIT, instead decides go go back to MEM going straight into the thick of some red/yellow storms, :P.

Interestingly, out of about 6 aircraft that went into the holding stack to the south, all except 2 diveted to KLIT, the other two doing circles untill MEM is covered in only Green storms, they then burst around between the reds and land at MEM. It seems they don't leave the holding stack untill the last diversion to LIT has already arrived at LIT.
