Title: Am I the only one...
Post by: Swiss_flight on May 24, 2005, 05:56:12 PM
Who misses the clearance delivery on the "JFK Ground Tower feed"? It was always so nice to hear the clearances of those without PDC capability.

Is there any chance of bringing this back, either within that feed or on another feed? What would be the feasibility of having two "JFK Ground tower" feeds, one with the Clearance and one without?

We'll be making some changes soon...going to move Clearance and Ground to one feed and Tower will be all by itself on another feed.

Not me. Personally I find it extremely irratating when to many busy frequencies are being scanned. If it's busy I find it's better to try and concentrate one area like Tower or Ground/Clearance, but not both. Dave has the best solution by separating them on different streams.

Another solution that would work on radios where another stream is not available and people wanted to listen to different sectors or frequencies would be to rotate through them over a period of time. Like listen to Tower for a week, switch to Ground/Clearance for a week, then approach for a week, etc. I realise this would increase the workload of the person running the radio, and is just my humble non paying freeloading opinion. The work of the people supplying the feeds is much appreciated at this end, keep up the great work.

Many thanks,

exactly some of us die hard ARTCC listeners would sometimes like to listen to mid to ultra high level raffic over the areas of the certain feeds that are here on the site.it would be nice alternate day from day or like the poster above said one week of app/dep along with tower and the other wih center frequencies. Yes I know I am obsessive about centers more so than tracons and class b and c's. I know you have to be near the transmitter locations to get both pilot adn controller relays but its not bad just to hear the pilot side as well this way each of us can hear air traffic coming into our areas in far away airspace and how they are vectored

It's just a matter of your personal preference.  I personally hate having all the frequencies split up.  I like hearing all the different positions, so it's best for my preferences to have all the frequencies on a single feed.  Sure, you don't hear every word that is said, but why would I need to do that?

It's possible to listen to multiple streams at once to get the same effect, but then when there is audio on both streams at the same time, they step on each other and you just hear a mish-mash of communications.

To each his own, I guess.
