KIAH Feed Quality
« on: June 22, 2009, 12:49:52 PM »
Not a pilot here...just always loved airplanes and fascinated with ATC.  Does anyone know why KIAH has so much static?  From what I understand volunteers pick up the transmissions and that is how we receive them???

I'm just curious, because I'd love a clear feed from KIAH and I noticed a post in 2005 that had the same issue.

Thanks everyone...

Hi Ross,

The main reason is because the antenna is only up ~30ft and I am close to 10 miles from KIAH and at least 15mi from KHOU. Unfortunately, I've got no more room to put up another antenna and can't get the existing one any higher.

Colin, thanks for the quick response.  Hey, I greatly appreciate you even offering it, just wasn't sure what happened.

Thanks again!

Ross ;-)
