a controller at JFK ground gave a shoutout to Live ATC!
« on: April 01, 2007, 09:34:08 PM »
.....just now at 0232Z.

"All aircraft standby, we're in the middle of a controller change, and for all those in live ATC world, sorry... it's not arnie"

this made my nostrils flare in amusement!

FINALLY!!! The time has come. This is the king of all transmissions. Forget the mentionings of the site in newspapers and such. The site has finally been mentioned on a live frequency. w00t w00t

it's been lost to the black hole of the internet. it happened just as the archives were transitioning from 0100-0130 to 0130-0200 and it seems that the archives are not exactly 30mins long. so the shout out wasn't recorded.   :-(

Don't worry.  Life will go on and the earth will keep spinning.  The sun might even come out, too.

The archives are designed to be 30 minutes long.  Sometimes there are transition issues every 30 minutes.  I've extended the archive recordings and started them a minute early to help ensure that we get exactly 30 minutes.  I also found and fixed a time bug that was affecting recordings at the transition of the UTC day (23Z->00Z), so these will be fixed going forward.
