Title: 747 dimensions
Post by: stealth71 on March 09, 2006, 07:52:36 PM: We have a 747-200 scheduled to come in to MSO. I have to park it, but I need the dimensions. Anyone know of a website that has a diagram of the planes dimensions, particularly the wheelbase? I already know the wingspan, length and all that, but I specifically need a diagram of the 747-200 to print out.

Post by: KCbook05 on March 09, 2006, 08:16:37 PM: Ok.. Im not tring to bring any one down. But if it is your Job to park the 747-200.. Shouldnt you already know or atleast have a blue print of some kind on hand at the airport to help with situations like these.. Just thought i'd ask..

Post by: stealth71 on March 10, 2006, 06:07:02 PM: Well, two thing make this plane unique as far as ground handling. The first is the turning radius since we don't want to smash it into other airliners that will be at their gates, and the second is how far from the nose the marshaller needs to be. Since it's such a high cockpit, the marshaller needs to be a minimum of 84 feet from the plane. Any closer and he'll be out of view from the flight crew. Looking forward to it. I've handled DC-10's and the L1011, but this will be the biggest. Hope Dave can get MSO added to the archives in time since they plan to do some maneuvers and flyovers. Might be fun to listen to.
