How was air traffic not affected? I heard the audio clip and I recall at least 1 plane going around because of this incident...

I believe they mean that normal operations were not affected, i.e. the airport didn't close, and the aircraft didn't slide off the runway into the grass or something; it just went past the end of the runway onto the overrun.
