I don't know if this is the right spot on the forums to put this, but Miami's New Control Tower is on fire now.

according to miami news website, it is a vacant tower. Is the new one not operational yet?

Is it recoverable?  I mean, can they repair it to a reusable state?

the structrure itself is fine. Who knows what kind of equipment was up there. Smoke and water damage. this will set them back.

in the article they stated firefighters had to physically climb the 100 foot tower to battle the blaze. Does that mean they had to scale it?

The one article linked above is calling the structure "an American Airlines Ramp Tower."

I have never been to Miami International to see firsthand, but it sounds to me like this is one of the ground control towers common at the larger airports, not the main ATC control tower cab.

You're correct, it's the new American Ramp Tower that was on fire, not the FAA control tower as others may have suggested earlier.

To add, the Ramp Tower is on top of the new J Terminal which has been in the works/being built for several years now.
