134.475 in Texas
« on: June 14, 2014, 10:10:24 PM »
I have feeds up at KFYV and KHRO and they hand off traffic to 134.475 who are in transition to the DFW area.
I have driven to MLC and TXK and have not heard the controller at all.  Aircraft only.  Lots of times (like today) 134.475 will do a hand off to 133.025 at KHRO (aircraft heard only).  I heard the ZFW MLC controller hand off to 133.025KHRO on 338.35.  338.35 is the low ZFW controller at MLC (132.2).

I was driving the scenic Talimena Drive in Eastern Oklahoma today and clearly heard the ZFW controllers on 132.2, 338.35 and 135.45 from MLC.  Still no controller heard on 134.475 at 2200MSL.  ZFW must be talking from Cumby or Marshall or some other site in extreme southern Oklahoma.  No controller heard at TXK or MLC.  Also, I could hear the Memphis Center controller clearly on 128.475 from Mount Magazine, Ark. on that scenic drive at 2200msl.  Also easily heard 122.6 and 122.000 off of the PGO VOR giving weather guidance today to en route aircraft.

Is ZFW using Marshall, TX for 134.475 right now?  Perhaps Bonham, Big Spring, or Cumby?  Maybe Paris?  I have been listening to hand offs to 134.475 since 1984.  Anybody know?  TXK is using only 123.925 ZFW low as an approach control.

According to my notes they moved 134.475 in 2012 to Paris, TX for "better coverage"

Only 123.925 is left in TXK.  About 5 south of Sherman, Texas, 124.875, 134.475 and 126.575 ZFW controllers are heard easily.  New ultra- high altitude added to MLC also, 128.125 for ZFW.   Heard the controller.  It is my understanding that the old TXK high altitude freqs will eventually be put back in there, 134.475, 126.575, after some construction is done. that is, higher towers or probably moving the RCAG to the airport (like Paris, SGF, HRO, FSM, ORK, etc.).  AT TXK, one would not be able to pick-up an IFR clearance after hours in the night on 123.925ZFW.  Too far away.  AT FSM, you can with ZME as it is on the field.

Little Rock Tracon has "RTRs" at Conway, ORK and Searcy for IFR pickup.

Cipher66,

Can you actually confirm that 134.47 is in Paris?  Have you heard it recently on a scanner or in an aircraft on the ground.  I wanted to place a feed there if it is true.  What about 124.875?

Thanks
