Thank you! Very much appreciate the audio link. Cheers

(looking for the audio now)

An American Airlines flight halted its takeoff from a North Carolina airport and ran off the runway on Thursday because of an apparent mechanical problem, an airline spokesperson said. No one was hurt.

The spokesperson said American Flight 775, with a crew of six and 172 passengers on board, was departing from Charlotte Douglas International Airport and headed for Miami International Airport when the pilot stopped the takeoff at around 2:40 p.m. The Boeing 737-800 ran off the runway, and aerial photos from news outlets showed ruts left in the grass by the airplaneā€™s tires.  The aircraft taxied to the gate, and customers were transferred to another aircraft scheduled to depart to Miami, according to the airline.

The original aircraft was removed from service for evaluation by a maintenance team, the airline said.

Edited the initial contact with JFK DEP where they declared an emergency. I don't have the time just yet to find other audio. But sounds like a hydraulic issue.

Initial contact with departure on the KJFK NY Dep (JFK) Feed, (135.900). Archived time was May-19-2022-1530Z.

Interesting read

Oh, definitely a very interesting read. As a resident of Las Vegas, whenever at the parking area dedicated to planespotting and listening in to ATC, every 10 minutes there was a blurb on the radio asking if people knew that McCarran was the father of the modern NAS that we have right now, and to learn more about him by visiting the aviation museum that is above baggage claim in the main terminal.

So there is no denying the accomplishments that McCarran did; however, one had to judge if the good he has done is better than the bad that he has done, and whether Reid is worthy of taking the name of the airport over McCarran. Right now, I'd say that there is a compromise. Reid was the one that got the D gates, Terminal 3, the new ATC tower, and repavement of 26L done. He was the one that got the funds allocated for that, because not only was Terminal 2 completely aging and about to fall apart, the old Tower was just as bad. This allowed KLAS to bring in airlines such as Singapore, KLM, Korean Air, Edelweiss, Eurowings, Volaris, VivaAero, Virgin, British Airways, Condor, Monarch, and right now, Finnair, plus more.

As a compromise, the marquis for McCarran Field still exists going over to the FBOs on the west side of the field. That isn't going to change.

A family member was on Jet Blue #163 JFK->SRQ today May 19th at ~ Noon. They flight turned around and circled JFK a few times before landing safely back at JFK origination point. The flight was met by firetrucks, and passengers deplaned on a secluded area of runway after being towed.

I'm trying to locate the audio clip to find out what happened.

Any help with audio clip or info much appreciated,. Cheers

Some hopefully useful information:

There are seven STAR approach routes around Charlotte.  FILPZ and PARQR are to the northwest and are on 125.35.  BANKR and JONZE are to the southwest and are officially on 126.15, however much of the time the pilots will call on 125.35.  The approaches from the east, CHSLY, MLLET, and STOCR, are on 135.6.

125.35    FLIPZ and PARQR (northwest)
126.15    CHSLY, MLLET, and STOCR (east)
135.60    BANKR and JONZE (southwest)

Sometimes the pilots will stay on these frequencies until they are on final approach and are told to contact the tower.  During peak times they may instead be passed off to 132.7, 119.3, 127.7, or 119.4 once they are on downwind.    Flights to the west are usually passed to 132.7.

Source:  Published charts ( and experience listening to these frequencies.
