Aviation Audio Clips / DAL982 at KATL Loses Nose Wheel Lining up for Takoff
« Last post by RonR on January 23, 2024, 04:10:24 PM »
On January 20, DAL982, a B757 enroute to Bogota CO, was lining up for takeoff on runway 27R when one of the nose wheels fell off the nose gear and rolled down an embankment next to the runway.  The aircraft behind the Delta 757 noticed the wheel rolling away and advised the tower what had just happened.  The aircraft could not taxi on its own and it could not immediately be towed off so all of the 27R departures moved over to 27L.  The aircraft was finally towed off a little over two hours later.

Here's an update to EIDW: the feed provider is aware of the EIDW feed issues.  There appears to be some technical issue that may have been caused at some point by some unfriendly weather.  It may take a few days for the situation to be assessed at the feed site; hopefully it will be back to normal soon.

Aviation Audio Clips / AAL1472 Flap Issue at KIAH
« Last post by RonR on January 23, 2024, 11:13:45 AM »
On January 22, AAL1472, a B737-800 enroute from KDFW to KIAH, was just about to land on Houston's runway 8L when the flight crew opted to go around.  Cloud bases were at about 450 feet at the time with some heavy precipitation in the area.  The crew told ATC that they could not extend the flaps completely.  They aborted a second landing attempt and then decided to divert the Lake Charles (KLCH) where they landed safely a short time later.  The crew at some point reportedly declared an emergency although this cannot be heard on the attached audio file.  Some of the ATC portions of their flight were not available.
Aviation Audio Clips / Ute crashes into a Jetstar plane at Sydney Airport
« Last post by KB4TEZ on January 22, 2024, 01:21:04 PM »

A ute has crashed into a plane at Sydney airport - causing major flight disruptions.

The Sydney Airport ute, driven by a security contractor, crashed into the Jetstar A320 aircraft while it was being towed to a gate at the domestic terminal on Monday at about 5.30am.

The crash trapped the driver and forced the plane, which had no passengers onboard, to be pulled from service.  'A Sydney Airport utility vehicle made contact with one of our aircraft, which was being towed to the gate without passengers,' Jetstar said.

Dramatic images captured at the airport show the ute with a smashed front windscreen after it rammed into the plane's No.2 engine.

'We're working with Sydney Airport to fully investigate what happened.' It's understood the security contractor driving the ute was uninjured in the crash and was taken to the Prince of Wales Hospital at Randwick for further assessment.

Jetstar was forced to cancel a number of flights, as three other planes were stuck behind the A320 following the crash.

The crash resulted in a total of six cancellations including flights from Sydney to Adelaide, Melbourne and the Gold Coast.

The airline has organised alternative same-day flights for impacted passengers.

Jetstar and Sydney Airport are both investigating the cause of the ute hitting the plane.

The aircraft is being assessed by engineers for damage and it remains out of service.
Listener Forum / Re: KNTU Down

Active feeds can go down for reasons beyond LiveATC's control.  Feeds that previously existed may go away entirely, again for reasons beyond LiveATC's control.  No feed is guaranteed to be up 24/7/365.  LiveATC is not a paid subscription network and *all* channels are provided on a "best effort" basis.

LiveATC monitors all active feeds with through an internal monitoring system that lets us know when a feed is down.  Some problems resolve themselves - like internet outages.  Sometimes a feed provider (or LiveATC) needs to manually intervene to fix problems.  Some problems take longer to fix than others.  Some receiver sites are in areas with poor internet and/or power reliability, or limited physical access.

If you are interested in providing a feed for KNTU, then please get in touch with LiveATC by going here:

Good morning,

I've enjoyed listening to KNTU (Oceana) and Giant Killer for years here in Virginia Beach, but it has been down for the past few month. Does anyone know why? I would be happy to setup a scanner or platform to provide a link, but didn't know if or why the current feed is still down.

The one stream that carried all the feeds was temporarily removed because it was playing an Irish radio station.  We are working to get this resolved and then that feed should come back online.  As far as the lack of audio from the other streams, we will be looking into that as well.  Thanks for the heads up!

Aviation Audio Clips / AFR356 Tail Strike Landing Toronto
« Last post by RonR on January 22, 2024, 09:03:22 AM »
On January 21, the tail of AFR356 struck the runway while attempting to land on Toronto's runway 24L.  The flight crew aborted the landing, went around and landed safely on runway 24L on the second attempt a short time later.  The crew reported that it would have been too long a landing as the reason for the go-around.  The aircraft received significant damage because of the tail strike.
