Listener Forum / Re: KSEA Feeds Down

The construction project that resulted in the KSEA feeds going down is located at the feed site; the airport construction site is unrelated to the KSEA feeds being down.

There are equipment issues at the LROP feed site.  There is no ETA when it will be back.  No feed is guaranteed to be up 24/7/365.  Most feeds are provided by volunteers and every effort is made to keep feeds up and running but they can go down at any time for reasons beyond the control of LiveATC.

Aviation Audio Clips / Tornadoes Hit Chicago OHare and Midway Airports
« Last post by KB4TEZ on July 16, 2024, 06:14:41 AM »
(heckuva night in Chicago land.  So many examples of ATC at it's finest, tower, ground, Center)
attached example, he earned his pay for sure when they returned from the evac's including Chicago TRACON around 0130UTC).
several LiveATC feeds down now currently due to that weather)

https://atxjetsetter.com/post/tornadoes-hit-chicago-airports/

Wild weather has rocked the city of Chicago and surrounding areas over the past two days. Strong storms moved through the area on Sunday and Monday nights that spawned multiple tornadoes, two of which reportedly hit Chicago’s Midway (MDW) and O’Hare (ORD) airports.

The first line of strong storms hit the Chicagoland area on Sunday and an EF0 tornado with winds of 80 mph touched down just west of Midway Airport before traveling east towards Lake Michigan. The tornado was confirmed by the National Weather Service on Monday.

Monday night brought even stronger storms as a massive derecho tore through the area. At one point all of the Chicagoland area was under a tornado warning. Passengers at Chicago O’Hare International Airport were forced to shelter underground while many passengers were stuck on planes on the tarmac.

According to some news reports, tornadoes touched down at both Chicago O’Hare and Chicago Midway Airport on Monday night. We’ll have to wait for the National Weather Service to confirm these which will likely happen sometime on Tuesday though, with over 10 tornadoes reported in the Chicago area, it may take longer.  As you can imagine, these severe storms and tornadoes have wreaked havoc on flights. Hundreds of flights were canceled and delayed at both airports with many aircraft stuck on the tarmac at O’Hare airport as the storm blew through. Luckily, based on what I can tell, no passengers onboard those aircraft were injured during the storm. Planes were stuck as the tower had to be evacuated.

Impacts from the storm will likely carry over through Tuesday so check with your airline on the status of your flight if you’re traveling to, from, or through either of the Chicago area airports.

Listener Forum / Re: Suggestion: maybe more ZMP feeds?

That’s exactly what I’m hoping for with this post! To get some volunteers in the ZMP coverage area!

It would be great to have more ZMP feeds but, for that to happen, it would involve volunteers offering to provide those feeds.  Most of the LiveATC feeds are provided by volunteers so hopefully someone will see this post and realize what a great idea it would be to expand ZMP coverage (or any other enroute center coverage for that matter)!  Hey, you never know!

Hey everybody! Apologies if this kind of post isn’t allowed in advance. I’ve been tracking a lot of flights out of MSP lately and I’ve realized that there are hardly any Minneapolis Center frequencies on LiveATC. If anyone wants to feed them, this is an open invitation to do so (assuming you’re in the Twin Cities metro, that is, which I am not). Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Apparently a laptop battery in a passengers bag began to smoke prompting the evacuation...

Aviation Accidents/Incidents / AAL2045 Evacuation at KSFO
« Last post by RonR on July 12, 2024, 05:02:07 PM »
Earlier today, AAL2045 was just about to depart from KSFO enroute to KMIA when the aircraft was evacuated via the slides due to smoke in the cabin.  It appears the aircraft was still on the ramp when this occurred.  So far no injuries have been reported.
