I always appreciate separate feeds when it can be done.  Much easier to follow routine operations, and you don't miss big chunks of unusual operations while the scanner is on other frequencies.

Aviation Audio Clips / AAL590 Blown Tire on Takeoff from KTPA
« Last post by RonR on July 11, 2024, 08:52:47 AM »
AAL590 had just started their takeoff roll when a tire blew out on the right-side wing landing gear.  Video of the incident clearly shows the tire blowing out at a fairly high rate of speed but the crew rejected the takeoff and turned left off the end of the runway.  They stopped there and waited for emergency equipment to arrive.  No injuries were reported and the passengers deplaned safely and the flight was cancelled.
Listener Forum / EWR Approach Freq Changes
« Last post by NHtrak on July 10, 2024, 06:43:06 PM »
Until about a month ago NY TRACON pretty consistently used 128.800 and 120.150 for EWR approach. They must have made some changes because now they are primarily using 120.150 and 132.700, with 125.500 and 132.800 in use sporadically. 127.600 is still used for TEB.

There is no feed with coverage of 132.700 or 132.800. Is it possible to adjust a tuner to the new freqs? There are active feeds for 128.550 and 128.800 but neither freq seems to be in use anymore so maybe those can be retuned. Thanks.

Aviation Audio Clips / KSYR Apparent Near Miss

On July 8th, JIA5511 was established on final for runway 28 at KSYR and was cleared to land by the tower.  Before the flight landed, EDV5421 was cleared for takeoff from the same runway.  The tower controller realized what was going on and instructed JIA5511 to go around.  Initial reports say that the two aircraft came within about 700 feet of each other.  JIA5511 came around and landed safely a few minutes later while EDV5421 continued on to New York.  A police car dash cam video shows how close the two aircraft came to each other.
