Listener Forum / ZLA Sector 15 (SBP) feed has a lot of static
« Last post by airtrafficjam on March 03, 2024, 11:53:03 PM »
The feed for ZLA Sector 15 (119.050) has a lot of static. If someone starts speaking, it quiets down but when there are no transmissions, there is a loud background static. Could this be fixed?

BGR Approach & Tower edited down for time/relevance... originals attached... pilot side not audible until landing at BGR... not sure where to find the original declaration of emergency and diversion/handoff to BGR I assume it's ZBW Boston Center ACK 17 but can't find that sector in the archive list.

Listener Forum / ZLA Sector 31- can hear pilots but not the controller.

Hi,

On the ZLA Sector 31 feed, I can only hear the pilots talking. No communication from the ATC can be heard. Is the source for the feed out of range from the ATC?

Listener Forum / Re: ADB-S Exhange FAA Charts
« Last post by AeroBill on March 03, 2024, 05:22:34 PM »
So both ADS-B and Airplanes.Live have the FAA Chart tiles back. But there is still a problem with the tile loading. If you zoom in too much you
lose the adjacent map tiles if you move the map around. In congested airplane traffic areas such as NYC airports you get a mass of airplanes,
with the zoom setting that keeps the tiles properly loaded. Hopefully they can get this corrected.

Listener Forum / ZLA Sector 25/28 Feed-cannot hear pilots
« Last post by airtrafficjam on March 03, 2024, 04:49:30 PM »
Hi,

While listening to the Sector 25/28 feed for ZLA, I can clearly hear the controller talking. However, I cannot hear the pilots talking to the controller (most times there is nothing or sometimes there is static). Very rarely do I hear a clear reply back from a pilot.

Is this because the planes in the sector are out of range for the receiver that supplies the feed?

Aviation Audio Clips / Smoke reported inside American Airlines plane cabin at LGA

(first time I've heard a Mayday call while on the ground)

Smoke was reported inside the cabin of an American Airlines plane that arrived at New York City's LaGuardia Airport from Chicago Thursday morning.

The Fire Department of New York said it received a "report of smoke in [a] cabin airbus" shortly after 9:30 a.m. Thursday from LaGuardia's main terminal.
American Airlines, in a statement to USA TODAY, said "possible odor" was reported in the cabin of Flight 2084 as it was taxiing to the gate.  "Customers deplaned normally and the aircraft was taken out of service to be inspected by our maintenance team," said the airline. "Safety is our top priority and we appreciate our team members for their professionalism.”
Fire teams and EMS personnel responded to the incident, which was "controlled," said the fire department.

No injuries were reported, said FDNY, and the matter will be handled by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Port Authority, in an email to USA TODAY, said "Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) arrived on scene to assess the situation, and the FAA to investigate."
