« Last post by RonR on September 29, 2023, 10:13:57 AM »
On September 26, UPS2111 had just departed KJFK from runway 31L and was at 11,000 feet when the crew reported that the #3 engine had failed.  They decided to return to KJFK and landed safely on runway 4L a short time later.

There is video of this in the link above, I did pull the audio, but all you hear is him coming in, nothing after he lands.

SAN ANTONIO – An 85-year-old pilot was taken to the hospital after he crashed a single-engine aircraft into a hangar at a Boerne airfield on Thursday morning.

Leon Springs Fire Department Chief Craig Ramon said the pilot was landing when he lost control around 8:30 a.m. at the Boerne Stage Airfield, not far from Boerne Stage Road and Haddock Way.
Firefighters arrived to find the pilot, who is from Boerne, already outside the aircraft. He was taken to University Hospital in stable but serious condition.

Ramon said the man had been doing practice flights before the crash.

The plane made contact with a hangar, but there was no threat of a fire, Ramon said. There were also no fluids leaking from the plane.

The plane and building sustained moderate damage.

Aviation Audio Clips / Small Plane Makes Rough Landing at Santa Barbara Airport

A small plane made a hard landing at the Santa Barbara Airport on Friday in an incident that temporarily closed one of the facility’s secondary runways, according to the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.

At about 11:20 a.m., personnel in the airport tower observed a single-engine Piper Czech Sport landing on Runway 15-right, fire Battalion Chief Jon Turner told Noozhawk.

“The plane made a rough landing, and came to an abrupt stop, nose down,” Turner said.
The pilot, whose name was not released, was not injured, Turner said, and was able to extricate himself from the aircraft, which is registered out of Santa Monica.

Airport operations were shut down for about 25 minutes, Turner said, and the affected runway was closed for about two hours.

Runway 15-Right is one of two that run north-south, and are mostly used by smaller aircraft. The longer main runway — 7/25 — runs east-west.

The incident was under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Aviation Audio Clips / DAL291 From CDG Diverts to KMSP
« Last post by RonR on September 28, 2023, 10:27:55 AM »
On September 22, DAL291 from Paris' Charles de Gaulle (France) was over Canadian airspace at FL360 when the crew decided to divert to Minneapolis because of an onboard medical emergency.  The medical issue involved one of the flight crew members.  The crew member was taken to the passenger cabin where a doctor that was onboard tended to his condition.  Another flight crew member who was resting at the time took over for the other crew member.  The rest of the flight proceeded normally and landed safely a short time later at KSMP.

Busy little airport got real busy.  Thankfully, he'll be ok.

The aircraft was landing on Runway 27L with a slight southern crosswind, the aircraft appears to have ground looped to the left, ending up skidding the right wing on the runway until the aircraft came to arrest on the left side of 27L around 1,700 feet down the runway. There were only minor injuries(s) to an occupant of the aircraft.
