At the time I was listening, the tower was still functioning - it was before they went ATC Zero. I've actually noticed this since the primary feed source changed.

TPA Ground and App/Dep are fine, just TPA tower that has the issue.

Working to resolve the issue. No timeframe yet for return.

(thanks AVH)

Just when you think you've heard it all.

An American Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N172US performing flight AA-2566 from Charlotte,NC to Providence,RI (USA), landed on Providence's runway 23 when a food cart became loose and hit a passenger. The aircraft taxied to the apron.

The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT LANDED AND A FOOD CART BECAME LOOSE AND STRUCK A PASSENGER IN THE HEAD, PROVIDENCE, RI." rating the injury of the passenger as minor.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 14 hours, then positioned back to Charlotte.

Miami, FL - A plane headed for a South Florida airport was forced to circle the airport for an hour on Wednesday due to winds from Hurricane Ian.

Officials with Miami and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International airports decided to keep the airports open on Wednesday as Hurricane Ian made landfall.

At least 180 flights were canceled at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, including 89 arrivals and 91 departures.

Officials say the flights that weren't canceled experienced difficulties due to the category 4 storm.

The pilot of a Delta Airlines flight from Boston was forced to fly around Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport for an hour while awaiting confirmation on whether it was safe to land.

Chris Capazzoli, a passenger on Delta flight 821, told Local 10 News "we got to circle and circle and circle."

Another passenger, identified as Janette Raab, tells the news outlet “a bunch of people started getting sick" as the pilot circled the airport.

Greg Chin, of the Miami-Dade Aviation Department, says Wednesdays flight was diverted to Miami International Airport because its runways allows pilots to land into the wind.

I feel like the TPA tower frequency is just off. I've only heard traffic and not the tower controllers.

What you're hearing is actually correct. The following airports are all at ATC Zero:

KDAB
KEYW
KMCO
KMLB
KPIE
KRSW
KSRQ
KTPA

their respective TRACONs are also shut down. The only one that is up at the moment is the Key West RAPCON, as their are Navy.

From my home State this morning:
I'm in West Palm Beach, but the other coast (as we call it) having a very ugly day ahead.
Praying all prepared and stay safe, Ian is crawling up the coast.

Thank you! I even saw our little airport listed on the main page! Having fun telling the other pilots at the airport, "You know LiveATC has our airport now so you can listen to what's going on out here at the airport from home". Between LiveATC and ADSBexchange I'm having lots of fun.

Boeing 737 cargo jet has been recovered from a lake after overshooting the runway on landing in France, forcing officials to call in heavy recovery equipment and mobilize over 100 personnel. Nobody was hurt during the ordeal. The plane, operated by Spain's Swiftair for Swedish cargo airline West Atlantic, is reported to have been flying a domestic route in France from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) to Montpellier Airport (MPL) early Saturday morning according to Aviation Source News. At 2:36 a.m., the Boeing 737-400F freighter exhausted the overshoot area at the end of Runway 12L during landing, coming to a stop with its nose in a body of water referred to as Gold Pond, according to a local press release. Flight Global reports the plane approached in misty, low-visibility conditions with a crosswind, though no official explanation for the crash has yet been offered.

A brigade of 60 emergency responders rushed to the scene, including water rescue specialists. The crew of three, however, were reportedly uninjured, and the cabin door appears to have remained above the waterline, simplifying the rescue. This left authorities only the plane's recovery to see through, which meant calling in earthmoving equipment and multiple heavy cranes. Montpellier Airport remained closed to air traffic during the recovery process, forcing Easyjet to cancel its route between Gatwick Airport (LGW) outside London, England, and France.
As of about 6:00 p.m. Sunday, the plane had been recovered from the lake without inflicting any additional damage to its airframe, according to a follow-up press release. Videos uploaded to Twitter show the aircraft being hauled away via heavy truck, likely for investigation, which is underway at the hands of French air safety officials. Operations at Montpellier Airport are planned to resume on Monday afternoon according to @airlivenet on Twitter.
