Title: NEW Miami feed antenna mast
Post by: captkel on April 27, 2010, 09:38:37 PM
After about a month of planning, purchasing and assembly my version of the Tilt-Up-Mast is DONE. :-D Now I know why I didn't want to build this...what a chore it turned out to be. I got it up Monday night when the weather finally permitted it. The reception is better so I suppose it was worth it and being that I can tilt it up and down will allow me to do some experimenting with different antennas. It's 47' tall and the antenna is at the 46' mark. By the way I painted it GREEN to symbolize all the green $$$$ that it took to make it.

Interesting corner reflector, is that a homebrew? where did you get it?

Thanks Dan

I bought it, it was made by arrow antenna model CB-148. The last time I checked it was discontinued but they may have brought it back.

Great job on the tilt-over. Did you build it all yourself? It looks like the tilt-over I have.

Great Job!

Yes it's your design...Thank You Very Much :-D At one point it was at 47 feet. I added an extra 10' section of 1" galvanized pipe to the 1 1/2" pipe. It was too much weight for the other pipes...they bent :-(  I dropped it down to 37 feet and straightened the pipes as best as possible.

Ya, that is getting a little to high, any taller would mean larger diameter pipe to take more of the stress. I very glad you made one Kel, thats what the write up on Radioreference was there for 8-)

I think my to LOG antenna is at the 41 foot mark and is just fine. The mast is actually 36 feet, then I have 4 feet of PVC for the log.

Good Job!
