I have just installed a new feed for KMSY, Louis Armstrong, New Orleans. It is about 6.5 miles from the airport, inside a 1 story house. The antenna is presently a whip mounted on a Radio Shack Pro-2006, but I will soon have a J-pole mounted outside about 25' high. Hopefully that will greatly improve reception. I'm running the audio through a Behringer UCA202 audio interface using the left stereo channel. The Behringer plugs into a USB port on a Compaq Presario laptop.

It is presently scanning:
119.5 tower
121.9 ground
123.85 approach
133.15 approach
125.5 approach
KMSY Approach also handles traffic for New Orleans Lakefront (KNEW) and US NAVY Alvin Callender Field (NBG), both class D airports.

As of 1600cdt today I have added a j-pole antenna up about 25'. The feed should now sound much stronger.

Thanks, K5PAT. Been waiting a long time for MSY to get back up.

Here are some pictures of the KMSY feed and antenna setup. Antenna is a KB9VBR J-Pole and is working great at 6.5 miles away from the airport. I had a 100' length of RG-8X with PL-259's installed and did not have the time to cut it and add another connector, so I am using the whole 100' run. I really only needed 40-50 feet. Oh well, another job for the next visit to the site.
Laptop is now a Dell Latitude 600 which I bought for $150. It needs a new battery so that will also be installed on the next visit.
