Title: KHDC feed setup
Post by: K5PAT on September 20, 2010, 11:57:36 AM
Antenna is a KB9VBR J-pole up about 33' with approx 70' of RG-8X feedline. I added a Ramsey preamp to help with ground station reception, but they are still in the noise level.  I am going to add an airband filter ahead of the preamp to try to bring the noise floor down. Right now it is running at 40 on the S-meter, probably due to the wide-band preamp amplifying everything from 1-1000MHz. Without the preamp the S-meter is at 0. As time permits I will change out the coax to 9913 or similar which should also help.
