KFPR Antenna update
« on: March 14, 2010, 11:32:12 AM »
I have been using a built from a kit, Vertical Dipole. This antenna has worked extremely well, very close to omni directional. In an attempt to improve the reception of the Miami Center RCAG which is located about 10 miles from me I thought I would build a small three element beam. While looking for parts I found in my junk box an old I believe was a Radio Shack Crossed folded dipoles FM antenna. To my surprise all I had to buy was a new 1"x1" aluminum boom. Cut to shorten the elements and change the spacing. The vertical dipole kit which works fine cost $13.00 and you get the extra parts at Home Depot.
