EICK, Cork Setup
« on: June 09, 2005, 10:31:42 AM »
Heres my setup of Cork Live.
I have a computer dedicated to the stream (now that its started up again for 24/7 service) the specs and pics are below:

Pentium 3 800MHZ
64MB RAM
20GB Hard Drive
DVD/ROM  / CD/RW

Not a good computer for most of the stuff but it does the internet and stream :D

Regards.
Patrick

Good looking Discone. Never seen more than one radial on top of one though.

Great set up!

I've got an antenna very similar in design, only about 4 times larger and externally mounted. It's been a god-send but unfortunately I'm too far from any decent airport.

Stick the lead into the scanner headphone socket and the other end into your PC's line in.

Setting up audio stream

Pat, can you give me a run down on how to set up and stream audio. I have good reception of Prestwick International airport near Glasgow and also EGPF (Glasgow International) too. Scottish FIR is particularly busy and the reception is excellent so.............can you advise me how I stream.  I've got a shed load of ham gear here, a spare laptop and all the enthusiasm and willing in the world  :) Perhaps if you could steer me toward some reading, I can find my way from there.  Look forward to hearing from you ....Will

That's great, but streaming from the U.K. is explicitly forbidden by law.  Sorry!

  WoW !!  Being a licensed ham I suppose I should have known that !!  I guess its the ATC content that is forbidden, not the streaming of content itself that you refer to Dave ? From time to time I webcast using the internet and "force" listeners to eat my musical taste !! (LOL !!) and that is okay.  What an absolute bummer !  Glasgow is just great and becoming so very busy too.  The joys of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949.  Its times like this that you get the impression we are the backward child of Europe.....the world.........the Universe.  Thanks anyway matey........cheers......Will
