Title: Phoenix Feed
Post by: cactushp on November 27, 2007, 07:41:18 PM
Hello all, the Phoenix feed host computer has been running through some problems lately. The computer is 4 years old, and seems be aging very quickly now. Programs that use to start up in a few seconds now take minutes. I am trying to get it fixed; I have run all the antivirus/malware scans you can think of, but the computer comes out squeaky clean every time. So I am thinking that it is more of an age issue if anything? As I am typing this, I am in safe mode, as the computer simply will not work in the normal mode. Any suggestions? I will keep you informed of the status.

Possibly. Now all I need to do is backup everything.

I'd would run Highjackthis program, on it, and post the log on G4 Techsupport forums, just to be sure you're clean.

Have you run, check disk and defrag on it?

You might try running MSCONFIG from start,  run. Then look at the startup tab to see if there are any unwanted programs starting up that might be bothering your startup!

I'd be curious to know what they did and find anything wrong?

Well, no. I guess it was just one of those times for a re-format. But since I need to purchase a wireless router card, I probably won't have the feed online again until tomorrow.

So I got the computer back, works great, and now the feed is back online :-D However, feed reception is not nearly as great as it was a week ago. I blame it on the transmitters.

Hi Scott, thank you so much for providing those of us enthusiasts with this feed.  it's great to be able to listen to my hometown controllers and hopefully and Lord willing future place of employment.

It sounds like you have the tower ground also, if I may, what all frequencies are you scanning?

126.80 (South Dep)
119.75 (North Ground)
132.55 (South Ground)

The quality is STILL very weak...even on my old frequencies setup. I don't know what to do to make the controllers come in clearer.

Is there a reason why you're not scanning the twr freqs of 118.7 and 120.9?

Tower comes in much weaker than ground. It would seem like the reverse would be true though...but isn't.

My high school plays at Mesa Country Club and I always see those planes making those turns to final which is pretty cool.  I would love to hear the tower if you can get better reception.

how do you hear FFZ tower on 124.6?

Sorry for the late reply. But I do not receive FFZ nor SDL. All I need to do is build one of those huge telescoping antenna mast. :-D

The PHX feed computer has been acting up lately. Over the past few days it has randomly gone blue screen...for no reason at all. So the feed will be unreliable for the next few days, as I figure out what to do with it. :)

Try running MemTest86+. You might have a memory problem with one of your main memory modules. MemTest86+ has saved my bacon a couple of times by detecting a bad memory module. Intermittent memory modules are noted for causing the problem you describe.

Surprise surprise!
The computer now won't even fully start up windows. I guess i'm going to take it down to best buy and get it checked out. For now though, the P50 feed will be down until I get it fixed.

They said I will be getting it back "tomorrow". Whether that will be the case or not, who knows.

After (what....nearly 2 months?!?!?!? :-o  :? :-o) a long time, and many hassles, and much money spent for no reason, the P50 feed is online on a temporary computer.
