My net connection I use for PHNL is having problems. It will randomly disconnect and require me to disable and re-enable my local area connection to regain any type of function.......
That's the reason the feed has been going up and down randomly. Logs say I haven't been dropping any packets, so I think I'll give RR a call. It's been doing this for a week straight.

Are you running on wireless through a wireless router? Or is it directly wired?
-
I'm using RoadRunner cable modem service. PC is hooked up using regular coax then direct via RJ45 from a Toshiba cable modem. I can however hook it up through a 4 port router or a 5 port hub if needed. I haven't yet tried to hook up the notebook and the PC at the same time with the router yet.
Another thing, it has been crashing a lot when viewing webpages on Mozilla. Funny thing is if I am downloading a file via FTP, if the browser crashes and stops loading webpage I'll restart mozilla and everything works fine. As long as the send/recieve data lights don't go out during a file transfer I wont lose a connection. It will not however restart at all when I stream a feed using STwin or Simplecast.

I know wireless and upload streams are not happy together. I think the random dropping is just part of cable internet, which i hate, cause it happends occasionally with me too, i have comcast. I wish SBC and verizon werent so expensive. Switch to Mozilla Firefox, mozilla suite is going to be gone soon, because firefox is it's replacement. The latest is 1.0.6 and it's really stable.
Forget IE, go Firefox.

OT:
Yeah, I never liked IE, always had Mozilla or Netscape. Are they really going to stop with the development of Mozilla suite? Bummer if they do. Personally I like Mozilla's toolbar customization and the full suite. I tried the first version of FireFox and thought of it of a watered down Mozilla and switched back, maybe that has changed :D. Typing this reply I already had to reset my modem and re-enable my NIC just to submit......

From the sounds of it, you have a very serious network problem. Do others on your street have the same problem or is it just you? Definitely sounds odd.
-
I have the same prob. but not as bad. You may have a bad connection, due to a bad cable line or anything like that.
I have looked all over the mozilla website, i did for a fact read that firefox is replacing the suite, now i can't find the exact artical - go figure. BUT the good thing is, combine firefox with thunderbird and you have a beefed up version of the suite.
Good info for you.

I once had the very same problem with my DSL-500G ADSL modem/router. The solution was easy: I forced the NIC to run @ 10 Mbps full-duplex instead of Auto. Never had these kind of issues since then.

Thanks SBFI, your tip seems to have worked.... hasn't happened since I've changed it out of auto. Weird how it just started happening, it's always been on auto for as long as I know. Everyone else I know in the neighborhood has DSL now. Well, one person I know is still is on dialup

Glad to hear it worked for you LORm.

Connection is dying again every 40-60 minutes. Giving RR a call :!:

Feed ran 8 hours no disconnect! Must be my months record.
