KSUX frequency change
« on: March 06, 2014, 09:49:58 AM »
I've been advised, and confirmed in flight yesterday, the low sector frequency for Sioux City, IA area is now 128.0. The frequency 124.1 is no longer in use. Asking the controller yesterday I was told the site is the same location but they combined two sectors (Sioux City and O'Neil) into one.

I will be updating my scanner when I get home tonight. Please update the KSUX page removing 124.1 and adding 128.0

Dave

Interesting.. with the O'Neill sector, That doesn't cover all the way out to O'Neill airport (KONL), does it? If so, would that mean that SUX Approach might handle the arrivals into KOMA on the HOWRY1 from ONL?

I see you also have "MSP Center (High) 133.375" listed on this feed. I have not heard any high altitude traffic on this radio and can't find 133.375 listed in any databases as a current ZMP frequency ?

Not sure if your intent was to monitor high altitude airspace ? Afaik the current high altitude ZMP frequencies over SUX are 135.775 to the east bordering ZAU (FL240 to FL360) and 124.875 to the west bordering ZDV (FL240 to FL360), and then there is 119.725 an ultra high sector overtop 135.775/124.875 (FL370 and above) used as required. The RCAG for 119.725 is listed at SUX so I presume you can hear the controller ?

I'm not suggesting you should add these high sectors as they are very busy and would block out a lot of the low traffic, although a dedicated 2nd radio for these high sectors would be interesting.

Probably just an error in the listing.  We'll get it clarified and removed.  133.375 looks like an old ZMP frequency and 128.0 is from an RCAG out in O'Neill, NE - too far away from this receiver to hear the controller side.
