KSNA - Down Again!
« on: January 05, 2007, 03:22:20 AM »
Building a new watercooled gaming rig....things aren't staying on schedule but the feed will be back up this week as I get time to work on the new machine.

Sorry for the downtime!

XTS, thank you for hosting the KSNA feed.  I stream your broadcast on my Verizon Treo phone often as I work in a building close-by.

Question...would you mind explaining how your system is laid-out in order to provide the feed?  I'm new to these forums and was amazed to hear that the feeds are provided by volunteers--often via their own home computers!   :-o

Please advise.

Cheers,

TBolt

Ah, I found an example of a typical set-up in the FAQ section.

Have a web site, XTS?  What kind of donations do you typically receive?   :-)

Thanks for the praise! :-D My setup is absolutely simple with a great antenna. An old Radio shack pro-60 handheld scanner with all but the Tower/2 Approach Freqs locked out and a 17' Vertical Comet Amateur radio antenna mounted 35 Feet up at the top of my house in Irvine. I actually work on alton & von karman so I'm even closer to the airport during the day than the feed is. Glad you like it, and the only donations I take are the words that somebody enjoys my feed :-)

And as I type this I think I may have the wrong input device selected on my soundcard because there is no sound coming over the feed as I try to connect from work :( No warranty expressed or implied!

The key to a great system! I'm actually thinking about getting a cheap pci soundcard and streaming some other socal approach and la center frequencies that I get perfectly clear.

Ah, the email reminder on this BBS didn't work for some reason.  Thanks for the reply, XTS...looking forward to the new feeds.  But, no pressure.  :)  I'm happy with just having the KSNA feed.

Excellent!  I always like listening to your SNA feed.  I'm curious though, how difficult was it to build the water cooled machine?  I figure with my luck it would spring a leak ;)

i have a water cooled computer to. me and my father work on and run a computer business,to my knollege  there is a spray that you can put on most of your computer parts and if it leeks it wont fry you pc but i am still trying to find it.mine was not that hard basicly you install the tank on to a spare opening on your computer.then you wire your pipes to where you want them to go (most come with a manule that is easy to follow )then you take non carboned water and pour it in to the tank and you can color it any color you want (note some say not to do that but some will allow it just depend on how it is set up or what type it is)and let it run for 24 hours and if it dose not leek there you go.

Thanks for the info!  When I am finally able to afford building another machine, I may look into that.

I use FluidXP as my coolant which is non conductive, and I've spilled it all over my new 8800gtx and so far no problems @ all running my e6600 @ 3.15ghz. I love how efficient watercooling is compared to air and will probably never go back.  :-D
