There is some serious construction going on a PHL. The construction has caused the whole feed setup to be relocated, and there is still construction going on around it. I am taking care of a relative for a couple days here in Philadelphia and will be visiting the site later today or tomorrow to work things out.

Update...bad news and good news.
I happened to be in Philadelphia taking care of a relative for a few days. Stopped by PHL to check on the system and to try and improve reception. The system is hosted at the airport, where there is a bunch of construction going on. The construction necessitated a move to a new (and very well shielded) computer room. This is not good for radio reception. We tried a variety of spots in the room and could not get more than noisy reception from the TRACON and barely any signals from the tower frequencies. Not surprising. We tried.
Because there is not much being heard, I am going to leave the feeds down for now.
Now the good news...
The feed system has a very good chance of being relocated to a *very* good spot on the airport. High off the ground and not in a shielded room. The new location should offer amazing reception, well beyond what we had before. But it could take two weeks or more before the staff can move it and get it connected to the network.
Stay tuned and hope for the best. We also have a very good chance of getting feeds on for PNE and TTN as well, soon.
Thanks,
Dave

I miss this one as well, hope the new site works out!
-
Thanks for the update, Dave. Sounds like "short term sacrifice, long term gain"! Will keep watching for the new-and-improved feed! Appreciate any updates when you have them.
-
The move may take longer than expected.
There is a chance it may not happen at all. If there is anyone close to PHL who might be willing to host the system, please contact me via PM or email. Trying to have a backup plan.

Bummer This is my fav feed. When you say close how close do you have to be to host the feed?
-
Bummer! I live in south Jersey about 10 miles from the airport and would love to host the feed but I do not get good reception of any of the ground based broadcasts (a/c on the ground, tower, etc.).
I really miss this feed also.:-(
-
As do I (miss it). I grew up not far from KPHL (in South Philly).
I have some other resources I might be able to tap in Philly, but the PHL thing needs to play itself out.
In the meantime, sorry about the downtime, but it comes with the territory.
Anyone in South Philly or Southwest Philly on here? Or in a Center City high-rise? :-)
-
Really disappointing! It's the only feed I listen to and follow the flights in and out of Philly (when I have the time) on an ATC chart. I live in Valley Forge - probably too far from the airport to help but would host depending on what was involved!
-
I live in SJ. Too far to pick up the tower.
-
this site and JFK sites are the best of all sites available - Im sure everyone appreciates all your efforts
-
I miss PHL too... it's pretty cool to hear the feed on a rainy day while the regional jets fly over my house down to rwy17.

any updates?

any updates?
No updates yet. It will be a process to get them back online.
-
Anything we can do to help? Contact anyone, etc?
-
Bumping just in case there are any new members from the Philly area who would consider hosting the feed.
-
Work on getting this back is ongoing.
-
I guess there's nothing new to report........ (he said with fingers and toes crossed)
-
Very possibly tomorrow. But don't hold me to it. :-) We're almost there.
-
Sweet! It's nice to know that it's almost there. Thanks!
-
FANTASTIC! Looking forward to the great news!

Great News!

Anytime now, would be great..........

PHL feeds back online - may be a little unstable for the next 24 hours, but at least we're back online.
-
Great news! Been looking forward to this for a long time. Thanks!
-
Great news. Feels like an old friend has returned!
-
It's like having an old friend back. Thanks for your effort.
-
Great work and effort, Dave! I echo the sentiment that it is like having an old friend back!
