Title: KEWR Feed Down - Possible Loss of Power at Feed Site
Post by: jkaplan on December 04, 2007, 06:03:39 PM
All,

EWR feed has been down.  I am, as yet, unsure of the situation.

I apologize for any inconvenience and will endeavor to get the feed up asap.

Anything new about EWR's feed? I landed there with a skyhawk today at 4:30 local and took off 6pm local and there were some funny lines over the radios. I was hoping to get clips of those.

Why and how much longer will the feed be down? It's been down for a couple of months now...

Please, please, please get this wonderful airport back on line!  Is there anything needed by the maintainers of this site to get things back on line?  Maybe I/we can help.

We'll let you know.  No status or ETA at this time.  Obviously we would like to get the feed back.

We are looking to set up a superfeed around that area but do not have a site yet.

Can't wait to have the KEWR back up please.

My daughter is Continental (International) Crew usually on the Milan, Paris, Tel Aviv, Athens, Delhi, Stockholm, etc legs, and along with www.fboweb.com find the site extremely interesting and useful as Ex aircrew myself.......(even if I do date back to Avro Lancasters).

Off topic (Perhaps you can re-post for me please Dave):

Wonder if any of the sites have considered the use of the QFH antenna for 'all round' (Azimuth AND Elevation) reception. If interested please get in touch....designed by NASA they are quite simple to manufacture, and full details are available if you punch 'QFH' into Google.  There is also a 'calculator' for exact dimensions for any freq.   I use one for NOAA satellite reception in the 137/138 MHz band, and find it has NO NULLS in azimuth or elevation what so ever, no matter where the satellite 'track' is relative to the antenna at any moment in time, therefore giving extremely good picture images.
