EINN/EISN issues.....
« on: June 04, 2008, 02:01:19 PM »
I apologise for the random disconnections of the shannon feed. Unfortuantely the phone line has a fault and hence the broadband keeps dropping.....the phone company dont want to fix it....I'll keep updates posted

Dave.....would it be possible to rename it to EINN/EISN to possibly attract more listenerS?

Shannon,

This is a great feed for monitoring the traffic between North America and Europe as they enter and exit the NAT tracks ! Are the frequencies listed that are being scanned accurate ?

You can hear the controller loud and clear on 131.150, but I was just wondering if you can hear the controllers on any of these other Shannon high sector frequencies from your location ?

125.875
122.975
132.150
135.600
134.275
134.625
127.125

Thanks for any info.

This is indeed the BEST feed for North Atlantic listening and always has interesting traffic...Great credit to the stream provider,..Who lives near Shannon Airport...  Although the actual  ATC Control Centre is  nearby Shannon airport this does not mean that you will hear all the Centre ATC transmissions in that location. The ATC area covers  a vast area fron 50 north to 57 north ...out to 15  west...THere are therefore transmission stations all over the Irish west coast  for atc to get coverage of this area ..Many of these are well outside the  listening area of  the stream provider...However from time to time you get transmisson  relaying and twinning between varoius sectors which means outside of the  Shannon listening area is possible to hear far distant aircraft and the controller. i think there is no hard and fast rule for this and varies on how busy the sector is     I am sure the stream provider can say more on this

OK, the following frequencies are now operational

Shannon Airport
TWR 118.700
GND 121.800
APP 121.400

Shannon Centre EISN
low level (SFC-FL245) 124.700
Shannon FIS 127.500

High level- I'm not too sure of the currrent sectorisiation of these but will find out. Again many of these are unoperational sometimes depending on traffic........regarding 135.600, its SOTA (LASNO/OMOKO area) and unfortuantely I cannot pick up controllers from that sector.

131.150
132.150
134.275
122.975
135.720
135.620
125.875
127.250
130.975
136.250
134.280
127.130

Thanks the info.

So are you saying you can hear the controllers on all the high altitude frequencies listed except 135.600 ?

Re: 134.280 and 127.130

Is this exactly how you have the frequencies entered into the scanner ie: .280 and .130 ? Are you aware that with 8.33 KHz spacing the "channel" is not exactly the same as the actual "frequency" that is being used ? Depending on the bandwidth that is set on the receiver it will improve reception if you have the correct "frequency" entered. In this case:

"Channel" 134.280 = "frequency" 134.275 MHz
"Channel" 127.130 = "frequency" 127.125 MHz

ie: enter 134.275 into the scanner and not 134.280, you have this one entered twice on your list.

For more info on 8.33 KHZ spacing ....

Re: 135.720 and  135.620

Maybe a typo, but the correct frequency that should be entered in the scanner is 135.725 and 135.625, otherwise they will be slightly off frequency with a tight bandwidth set.

Yes......all but 135.600.

I'm aware of the 8.33khz spacing issue, however the scanner will not accept some frequencies particulary ones that end in .x75

There are now plans in place for a second feed.....probably another few weeks before it will be active

That's odd, what type of scanner is it ?

Just listening to the feed now it sounds like you have the volume turned up too loud, the controllers are coming through overmodulating and distorted.

Splitting the feed would be great, looking forward to it.

I don't see any DEMANDS in my post....do you?  There only Observations and questions, and if you had been listening on the day to shannon you would have heard what i heard Crackling coming through on the feed. As i am a avid listener to ATC now for a while, i am very aware of how its gets to my computer, and i am very appreciative of this service, and the service providers and their undivided attention to its upkeep. I also have donated to this service in the past, and as i am a listener, i am entitled to air my observations, and without listeners this service would be nothing. so don't come to me with your "Teacher like Attitude" this is not high infants, and don't be so up-tight. :-D

A great feed but unfortunately the volume on the EINN feed is so low at the moment , as to be unreadable :|
